ABOUT MICHAEL LEWIS FOUNDATION

The Michael Lewis Foundation was formed in March 2016 in memory of Michael James Lewis who passed away in November 2015 due to DIB syndrome associated with Type 1 Diabetes. Michael was a positive person who never let his diabetes stop him from achieving his dreams in Sound, Lighting and live event Technology. The foundation has a great relationship with Diabetes UK and has won awards for fundraising. In December 2017, the foundation was awarded full charity status to make a difference to individuals and help prevent other families from experiencing the pain of losing a loved one to Type 1 Diabetes. The foundation aims to utilize technological breakthroughs in Type 1 Diabetes care to minimize the risk of another family suffering the same pain. They plan to fund Continuous Blood Sugar Monitoring and Bluetooth technology that alerts the victim or a family member/friend if the blood sugar readings drop rapidly, potentially saving lives. The foundation’s priority for funding will be those leaving home to go to university.

WHERE DOES OUR MONEY GO?

As a charity, we rely on the generosity of people to fund everything, from organizing events to individuals undertaking personal challenges. Our aim is to help as many people as possible, and we believe that the best way to achieve this is by developing a strong support network. Who better to advocate for our cause than those who have received financial support from us?

We are not asking you to raise thousands of pounds on your own. We want you, your family, and your friends to get involved in any way you can, whether it’s by participating in one of our organized events, creating your own event, or undertaking a personal challenge. The decision is yours, and your involvement can make a difference in someone’s life.

We are not asking you to pay for your equipment. Instead, we want to provide someone else with the opportunity to benefit from it.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED

As a trust, we are deeply committed to finding a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Michael, our inspiration, was a caring and loving individual whose infectious personality left a mark on us all. He inspired us to strive towards finding a cure by living his life with passion and disregarding the barriers that prevent many from achieving their goals.

Our Foundation Trust is the platform for our fundraising efforts, and you can help us in several ways:

  1. Donate through our JustGiving page by clicking on the donate button below.
  2. Volunteer to help us with one of our events. If you wish to support an event as a volunteer, please contact us.
  3. Undertake a personal challenge, such as a marathon or triathlon, and raise funds for our cause.

Your involvement can make a difference in our mission to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Join us today and be a part of our efforts to make a positive impact in the world.
