On Sunday 28th August, Cooksey Lane playing fields played host to the first charity football game for the foundation. The event was organized by Ben Leavesley and Robson Webber and saw a game of football between a team made up of ex-Beacon Colts players (Michael’s old football team) against a foundation team put together by Nathan consisting of a few of the Wimperis boys.
The sun was shining, and the football was played in the spirit intended, entertaining around 100 plus people who also enjoyed the BBQ and bake sale. The event was a huge success, and the organizers had drafted a team of helpers who also deserve a big thank you for keeping everyone fed and encouraging many people to dig deep and buy some raffle tickets.
Cooksey Lane playing fields provided the perfect venue for the event, and the organizers would like to extend their gratitude for allowing them to use the space. The figure raised on the day was an impressive £1041.78, a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved.
The success of the event has already prompted the organizers to start planning for next year’s event. So, watch out for further information about this exciting event, which promises to be even bigger and better than before.
The foundation’s first charity football game was an excellent way to raise money for a worthy cause while also bringing the community together. It was heartwarming to see so many people come together to support the event and make a positive impact on the community.
Charity events like this one remind us of the importance of giving back to our community and supporting those in need. It is through acts of kindness and generosity that we can make a real difference in the world and inspire others to do the same.
In conclusion, the success of the foundation’s first charity football game is a testament to the power of community and the spirit of giving. We congratulate the organizers and everyone involved in making the event a huge success and look forward to next year’s event, where we can continue to make a positive impact on the community.
